The theme is American artists inspired by anime.

For my piece I made Astro Boy as Little Lord Fauntleroy.

Went to see Urgh! A Music War from 1981 of new wave, punk, and post-punk bands.
One if the crazily dressed bands was Invisible Sex. Had never heard of them until tonight.

Went to the zoo to do some sketches, but realized I wasn't in much of a drawing mood. I just walked around and watched the animals. My favorite are the gerenuks.

Don't remember where I found the photo, but it was labeled Mary Pickford. I just liked that it was a casual daytime flapper outfit and still stylish.

Frances O' Connor

Was waiting to post this pencil drawing until I could scan it, but I am having no luck with the scanners I have tried to use. So here is a light, hard to see version. Maybe I'll get around to inking it someday.

One of my favorite circus sideshow people, Frances is in the 1932 movie Freaks. If you haven't seen it, you really need to.

Love the 60s space-age helmet hats. Futuristic & bizarre- I want these to come back into fashion. Unless they already have? Everything comes back at some point.
I made her look more alienesque than the model in the photo.
