Girls Drawin' Girls at Galerie Arludik in Paris

In May Girls Drawin' Girls had a group art show at Galerie Arludik in Paris, France. There were 20 members selected to be in this show, and I was lucky to be one of them. I was also lucky to be able to travel to Paris for the opening, along with several other artists in the show.

I created 2 new paper cut outs for this show, and decided to use colored paper with a limited palette. I love vintage ladies, so I of course had to do some deco inspired gals.

The show ran from May 7-18th, 2013

All artwork for this show can be seen here:

Gag Me With A Toon 5

The 5th annual Gag Me With A Toon show opens Saturday, May 4th 2013 at WWA Gallery.
I have a new painting for this fun show. I chose the 80s cartoon character She-Ra, The Princess of Power as my subject, and used Botticelli's 'The Birth of Venus' as my inspiration.

Rewind to the sugar highs of childhood Saturday mornings and “toon” in on May 4th to this year’s Gag Me with a Toon 5 presented by WWA Gallery and curated by artists Steven Daily and Tomi Monstre. This much-loved annual exhibit has artists re-imagining the cartoons of their youth and what results are some totally tubular recreations of iconic characters spanning the 1960s-1990s!

Opening reception is from 7 – 10PM on Saturday, May 4th.
The exhibition will run until June 1st, 2013.

Dia de los Muertos Art Show

New piece I made for the annual Day of the Dead Art Show. This is a paper cut out made from one continuous piece of paper. It's always a challenge making a design that will be one piece, without gluing different parts together.

Opening night reception: Saturday, October 13, 2012 -- 7-10pm
Show runs until November 3, 2012

Gag Me With a Toon 4

I have been invited to participate again in the annual Gag Me With a Toon show. There are over 70 artists in this show of pop culture cartoon based art. The show opens March 17th and runs until April 17th at WWA Gallery in Culver City.
This year I chose the Jetsons for my piece. I put them on a paper moon, reminiscent of vintage photographs from a century ago.
The preview art is up on WWA's site along with purchasing info.

Here is a paper cutout I made for a Valentine's Day themed art show at Cactus Gallery in Eagle Rock.

Life VS Death

I was invited to participate in a group show at a gallery in San Francisco, curated by the talented Daisy Church. The theme for this show was VS, a show of opposites. I chose to make a paper cutout with the image of Life VS Death. This cutout is one continuous piece of paper.

Have You Seen the Trees?

I have a new piece in a tree themed group art show.
I haven't made a paper cut out in quite some time, so I decided to make one for this show.
For this piece I used only one piece of paper without any breaks in the paper.

There will be an opening reception on Saturday, April 9 from 7-10pm.

This show offers an exploration of trees, from their role in the world's mythologies and religions to their role as an important component of the natural landscape. Trees have been given deep and sacred meanings throughout the ages and are seen as powerful symbols of growth, decay and resurrection. More than 25 participating artists.

Gag Me With A Toon 3 at Meltdown Comics

I have a piece in the group art show Gag Me With A Toon 3 at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood.

The theme of this show is 70s & 80s cartoons in which the artists re-interpret their favorite cartoons.
I chose my favorite 80s cartoon rock star Jem and gave her a vintage Art Deco style. Jem is all glamor and decadence.

'Jem- Truly, truly, truly outrageous!'

Nun Cutout

A paper & fabric cutout I made as a gift based on my pen drawing of the same figure.
